No, we’re opening them. We just don’t want to be bombarded with junk mail and data collection. It’s something marketers have been 100% unable to comprehend. I’ve had numerous arguments with the head of marketing at work that, yes, you can do things to collect data but it drives people away. And he still doesn’t get it.

I'm opening and flagging them as spam, which they are. There's no law saying these companies need to send those out. They're marketing emails disguised as compliance emails. They want to avoid the user retention issues they are guaranteed to face with the new GDPR regs so they're sending out these emails as an excuse to get your attention before they have to close down a bunch of shit and lose users.
