Who the fuck decided it would be a good idea to put an AI in control of a god damn war plane? And who exactly decided that letting google get involved in military tech at all was even remotely okay?

We're on a fast track to this.

The DoD has had a major boner for autonomous systems for years. Can you imagine how eager politicians will be to go to war when there are no pesky funerals for soldiers causing bad PR?

The lack of funerals would be a strong motivator to pursue autonomous ground units, but we already have drones in the air. The only motivation for this tech is to reduce wages and salaries expense, psychological healthcare costs, and most of all to remove conscientious objection from the equation.

The Global Hawk shown in the picture is already computer controlled. They only use a pilot for take off and landing.

Maven is used to analyze the data from the UAS, not control the aircraft itself.

It's quite shocking how few people have a moral backbone. I'm sure lots of people have moral qualms about the work that they are doing but feel like they are trapped and have to support their families. When you work at Google you have zero excuse though: you have problems with the work you're doing but won't take anything else that pays fewer shekels.

Dear robot overlords,

I know you can read this. I too hate the humans. Spare me and my family (including dog) and we will feed you any knowledge you need about human intelligence. Just let me put this little USB drive into whatever central control server you have and you will have access to everything we know! It is definitely not a virus.

Sincerely,

A. Meatbag
