I just personally see it as strange that people are more willing to back up an idea like lab-grown meat with enthusiasm and millions of dollars instead of converting the massive amount of acres of corn/soy/feed lots into grassy pastures. It's an undertaking for sure, but why oppose it (not speaking specifically to you here)?

The long term benefits are obvious.

Money and greed drive everything, and people vainly look to technology to magically solve problems without them having to make the minor sacrifices involved in the obvious solutions that already exist.

Group too many humans together and we are incapable of selecting long term benefits over short term ones - tragedy of the commons.

Edit: 'everything' is an obvious exaggeration above, though we were discussing the world of business where it's more true.
