absolutely! and they better research what else these bacteria will degrade. Many boats on the ocean use fiberglass hulls mixed with chemicals that have similar properties and components to your standard plastics. I don't know if spraying it on the ocean (where the garbage patch is located) is the best idea.

And pair this discovery with the high school student, in 2008, that found two bacteria that do the same thing and maybe we can save the planet!
