If you're viewing the image in another tab from the google image results, it doesn't give you full res.
There is an extension called Imagus on Chrome and Firefox that is a nice workaround though, and it has pretty nice features for hundreds of other sites too. I still resent needing one more extension just to do something extremely basic that should be a given on any browser/site though.

Because people are too dumb to right-click and select 'view image in another tab'?
And how does a person 'steal' a digital copy? Did they hack the site and remove the original?
I think the article might be confusing the words 'steal' and 'copy'.
They're not the same thing.
