U.S. wants to remove 'unnecessary' barriers to self-driving vehicles, particularly those that are not equipped with controls for a human driver.

They can say it. Doesn't mean anyone believes it. I'm not trying to argue that we *should* keep driving, just that we will. It would be political suicide for a politician to even bring up the idea of banning it.
