3 options really.

1) New laptop or try to mess around with a dodgy ebay replacment keyboard unit for about 40 bucks.

2) Master the shitty art of Onscreen keyboard use.

3) Disable normal keyboard and velcro a thin wireless keyboard on top of it.

I've had pretty good luck with those "dodgy ebay replacement keyboards" when I used them. They're not quite the same quality up close, but if you don't know any better you wouldn't know once they're installed.

Can confirm, I've installed lots of these on lots of different brands/models, except my source is usually Amazon.

If you haven't spilled anything on said keyboard, it's probably just the connection ribbon. Pull your keyboard out and see if the ribbon contacts need to be cleaned or if the ribbon is cracked. You can get a replacement easily and for cheap.

It doesn't seem to be persistent only when the laptop heats up so thanks, I might try this.

Only when it heats. Sounds like the ribbon connector is juuust loose enough.
