Because putting a gun in a floor level drawer is the best place to keep it away from children. Don't take the ammo out or anything either.

Hmm... remind me to start checking ovens for firearms before I turn them out, especially when I'm in Warren. Not that I ever go out that way, but it's not outside the realm of possibility.
