It works like a WC.
I have posted before how the free market isn't actually free and suppresses free speech. Social media are protecting their profits by removing objectionable content.
Shit rolls downhill and global platforms like gab can scoop up enough to make money.
Gab can't even accept payments from Visa, MasterCard or Paypal. The options are crypto, physical check or ACA transfers. Some banks will reject the ACA transfer supposedly. That makes it very hard to get money from normies. There is not a cloud service in the world that would host them, they have to buy all of their own hardware and have to do everything possible to keep the datacenter locations secret to prevent the whole cancel culture shutting down their last remaining providers.
Torba has refused VC funding for years, which was brilliant considering what happened to Matze from Parler (VC board fired him from CEO position, a history that the Mercers have done many times before).
Gab has 5 engineers. They have shut down for weeks at a time for major updates. There are no ads. Where is this money they are making? I own a whole percentage portion of their private stock, there are not profits.
At least it works, unlike billionaire-funded Parler.
If twitter, facebook and google haven't been so gung ho on removing wrong think, gab would have never survived. It's nowhere near the silo that Voat was though. It used to be fairly similar to old voat, but Conservative Inc., Christians and boomers had moved in and carved out a huge chunk away from what it used to be...which gets boring fast. 9 months ago I actually would be in the top 10 daily posts on the popular page with some gardening posts with a few hundred likes. Now you have multiple freshmen congresswomen with 20k likes on top every day.
Super lame
