Because its not just a flu. It can incubate in someone for much longer without symptoms as well as longer longer on surfaces. The flu is much tamer and easier to deal with using basic preventive measures. So now that those are in place for once, its no wonder the common flu is under control for once.

The flu incubation is 7 days.

CDC says 2-week coronavirus quarantines can be cut to 10 or 7 days

The lockdowns are purportedly due to people not following the guidance. If people aren't following the guidance, the flu numbers wouldn't be down. Maybe the guidance doesn't prevent the Wuhan flu.
