Very astute observation. I think the turn in pop also had something to do with marketing very successful patterns. Once a few sound engineers discovered the golden ratio to musical notes it wasn't too far behind that corporations and music labels would develop entire schools of thought around exploiting those notes.

I mean, in other words the turn in all music is proportional to the rise of power in the music label industry. At least that is how it appears to me.

the good news is it can't stop people from making music and we'll have another one of these in the next whatever time it takes for a newer addition to change music... it's getting saturated but hell I haven't heard morse code in pop music yet.... /s
