The real shame is that science is being done just to get grants. The subjects are wrangled to fill the needs of the granting committee not address needed research angles and answer useful questions.

1/5 my ass. No PI spends so little time on procuring grants. Writing the proposals is bad enough and then you add the overhead after you have them and it’s all you do.
