Yup, and covered up by the press for some reason, likely related to CA's economy and the fact there's nothing that can be done. But I agree, it should have been covered more.

Yeah, it's in the air, the rain, the ocean water, the fish, it's everywhere - no one wants to talk about it.

My grandfather was at Bikini Atoll on July 1, 1946, and he had chemo in 1986. Because of the combined radiation, he died about 6 months later.

Radiation is no joke, and it's why I won't go through the TSA death machines.

Bummer about your GF ... sorry to hear that. They didn't give a crap about the troops and ppl working on the new atomic age stuff. Sad, many suffered.

Yeah, well, tbf, they really didn't know at that point. I have a letter of his he wrote - he wrote 3 - 1 to his parents, one to his brother, and one to his grandparents. I framed it and the envelope. It's pretty amazing. The US military even made special A-Bomb test postmark stamps for the occasion.

How they treated it after the fact was pretty shitty. But that costs money, which means, that requires Congress, which means, "No admission of any wrongdoing, ever."
