It has an experimental sound to it. I didn't realize that was why. Cool info!

Spector's "Wall Of Sound" was primarily the way he used an echo chamber (a real concrete room with a speaker and microphone) and by using multiple instruments all playing the same thing to enhance notes, among other "tricks". The Beatles, and others, took it a step farther and used new recording techniques (reversing tape, tape loops, sampling, etc). Most was due to Sir George Martin working with them to produce the concepts they had. And at that time it was all analog, digital wasn't around yet.
