I never fully appreciated his music until he died and I saw the tributes from other musicians. I hadn't ever really paid attention to the songs just knew I liked them because they had good lyrics and melodies and didn't realize he wrote most of it (always thought he wasn't much of a writer for some reason). Also didn't know he was so highly respected as a guitarist until he died (again didn't realize he actually played the lead guitar on his songs). Guess it's true that sometimes we don't truly appreciate someone until they're gone.
