It does only play YouTube videos at the moment and I'm not sure if admins will be able to add HookTube videos to it or not. So, though I personally prefer HT over YT because of all the Google baggage

I feel the same. I prefer to use Ht for music, except that it won't show in the player.
It's a conflict.
Similar situation with videos.

we talked about hooktube, but decided that we would want to build a different player. Part of the reason for hooktube is to not link to youtube, so we didnt want to alter the link you (the user) submitted to then play it in the sidebar as a youtube link. Sometimes you have a really good reason for using the hooktube link.

Maybe an optional toggle for the media player when posting?
A checkbox or something.

Great feature, regardless. I'll default to YT in music subs to it'll work for them. I may notr like YT ... but like the player feature. It's cool as hell.
