I would recommend against it unless you're liquid cooling or have enough hardware to fill up the space. Although I imagine the smaller cases are probably more manageable.

I haven't decided if I really buy a 3950X, but it basically requires a water cooler (probably the reason it doesn't come with a stock fan). 12 cores might be enough for my usual workload of mostly browsing the web. And a Threadripper is a bit overkill too.

The thread ripper is great to drool over. But unless you have some seriously high intensity web browsing, you would be better off with the ryzen series.

Thank you very much. I've put a lot of thought and effort into it this year. I basically went from 2011 to 2019 this year and it's been a fulfilling journey in it's own way.
