Why spend all that money on a dozen fans? When I can just remove one side and mount this 1600 mm fan?

For real though, is bigger really better?

Is it wise to go with a largest fan possible? What's the pros vs cons?

I've read that a single larger fan is generally quieter than 2 or more smaller fans.

Does anyone have any preferences on fan size?

So I've done this.

Years ago, probably 10ish. The fan on my GPU crapped out. Rather than deal with trying to mount a new one, I took the side of the case off and blasted everything with a box fan.

The only real downsides I'l can see are dust, noise and perhaps over pressure on sensitive components.

Dust being the big one. I never really had a problem tho, nothing a can of duster every month can't fix.
