It seems I'm looking at paying $200ish for one of those models. Does that seem reasonable? Also will my 450wat Psu be able to handle it or will that need to be upgraded too?

Yeah around 200ish is a good price. The PSU will do fine if it's a decent one. But, as the others said you should try replacing your HDD with a SSD first, you'll notice the greatest difference there, and if you still feel that your setup is still too slow for your needs you can start looking to replace the more expensive parts

Something like that then? I've had good experience with WD in the past.

I do have to admit though, I'm a bit confused by this new tech. It looks like a freaking ram stick ffs.

You have to seat those directly into the motherboard. They're fast as fuck (I got that exact one except it's the 512GB version) but I don't think your motherboard will have slots for those. You should search for SATA SSD's, those are plugged just like your regular hard drive

Edit: this is an example for WD https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820250088&Description=sata%20ssd&cm_re=sata_ssd-_-20-250-088-_-Product

Samsung also makes good SSDs
