They are designed to be assembled by robots and/or low wage workers. They are not meant to be repaired, just used up, thrown out and replaced.
They ain't what they used to be. The brand names we grew up to know and trust have been sold to big conglomerates, which make crap and sell it under the brand that used to mean quality.
More personal: I can't read the damn small gray writing on the white surfaces at my age.

#1 is what makes me lose it sometimes.
Appliances should be purchased once, maybe twice in a lifetime.
Now when the light-bulb burns out you're supposed to throw the whole thing away. It's crazy.
Everything is all made in one piece so it can't be repaired or modified.
