That's a moot point. By 2040. gas will run around $100 a gallon. No one will be driving cars.

I doubt it. Peak Oil hasn't happened yet, and I doubt it will at this time. I think our theories on oil creation are likely wrong.

If it were possible to end gas cars, by 2040 it will be much more likely gas is 90 cents a gallon for the few people who restore and keep "classics." But this is very unlikely. There are massive environmental costs to battery production in EVs, and replacing the hundreds of millions of gas engines all around the globe, and ceasing to machine parts for them, is very unlikely for at least half a century if not more.

I don't think we'll be able to sustain oil production as world trade begins to collapse. It's a long thing, but I don't think we're going to last much past then as a "world" civilization.
