There is a shocking amount of gold throughout most of Africa that is sitting there dormant, as well as iron, zinc and a few different rare earth metals. They aren't interested in the people (except for slave labor), they just want the resources.

It is kind of concerning how much the invest in Africa. Almost like they have intentions of taking it over one piece at a time.
