Aye, agreed. I just can't see thousands of people willing to break the law as a positive addition to the country. What's very telling here, and no one seems to be mentioning this in any real discussion, is that Mexico didn't want to let them in and they're not rounding them up to ship them back. Kinda says lots about how future US-Mexico relations are going to go, I think.

Same thing happening in Europe too. Italy, Greece, etc are perfectly happy so long as the migrants move on to Germany, UK, etc in northern Europe.
Mexico has a big problem on its southern border too since it is relatively wealthy compared to its southern neighbors.

Yeah, I see what you're saying, and I wasn't accusing you of lacking reasoning or saying you're advocating for unlimited immigration. I'm saying that anybody who has been paying attention for the last 30 years has already come to the conclusion that there are hundreds of millions who want to come to the US, and it has nothing to do with whatever current civil unrest is presently in country xyz; there will always be tons who want to come because there is so much more wealth in the US.
Allowing all these people in would be a flood and cause massive problems like we're seeing, so anybody who supports unlimited free immigration hasn't been paying attention all this time or has ideology that won't be swayed by these facts. I doubt this most recent episode will change any of those minds.
It might increase the urgency of the the topic in peoples' minds, however, and there are far, far more people who see the problem for what it is than far leftists who think the answer is to let in all of Central America. So maybe that will make it end badly for the left, but I kind of doubt it. Leftists propaganda has really accelerated and tried to make the unlimited immigration position mainstream, but I think they're far, far more extreme than most Americans. Of course it is really difficult to tell the true pulse.
