Well, the good news is. The amount of radioactive material used in these are quite small. Less than a kilogram for the most part. Also Iridium 192 is one of the less aggressive radioactive samples they could have obtained, compared to cobalt and others.

Lol. Also it may have just fallen off the back of a truck or stolen by some idiot who thought the device looked shiny.
