I find it interesting that there doesn't seem to be any additional information given in the press release aside from the first paragraph. The other stuff in here is quoted directly in the Guardian article, so other than the first paragraph that basically says "the story is not true", there's nothing here that wasn't already reported.
If the article was completely accurate, it would make sense that there would be a press release like this denying it.
