I mean I get that ideally you'd like to trade with other EU nations openly but not be forced to let their invasion across your own borders anymore.
Immigration numbers in the UK are not a problem. They are not even close to the numbers in some other European countries.
When people voted to leave in the referendum, they voted based on false promises. There are reasons for leaving the EU that do not revolve around immigration, or even trade, such as the promise made by the leave campaign that all of the money we put into the EU would be going to the NHS. That promise was immediately broken, literally the day after the vote.
People also thought that there would actually be some negotiation over keeping our trade agreements but dropping our free travel arrangement. I knew that this was a fantasy from day one, but a lot of people voted under the assumption that this would happen. This entire ordeal is now being negotiated by someone we did not elect, and the only communication between the government and the public up until this point has been a series of bullshit slogans that mean absolutely nothing whatsoever, but they sound good on tv. On top of this, the party that is supposed to be offering an opposition to the current government is fracturing and seems incapable of getting its shit together during one of the most important events in this country since WW2.
I would honestly not be surprised if the reason the government is trying to leave the EU ASAP is because they know they're going to lose the court case and parliament will have a vote on leaving.
What do you want them to bargain for exactly?
Something. I don't want us to leave at all, but a lot of people did, and they voted under the assumption that we would at least be bargaining for something.
What do you want them to bargain for exactly? I keep seeing that, that they're trying to "negotiate a good deal" but I guess I haven't paid enough attention to actually know what the UK wants.
I mean I get that ideally you'd like to trade with other EU nations openly but not be forced to let their invasion across your own borders anymore. But from my perspective you hold all the cards here. You could be a tax Haven and have the best country ever while the rest of the EU lives in their now massively underfunded zoo if they don't give you everything you want.
