I still have my father's portable one they sold, membrane keyboard. It had a plug-in RAM extension and also used a cassette recorder. They also offered battery cards for a free one every month.

They are a marketing class example if ever there were one.

I had the cassette data too. That was not a fun way to save and load. When we got the disk drive that was the coolest thing ever. Huge jump in usability.
