Sears became a juggernaut largely from mail order sales.

Which makes you wonder why they couldn't transition to online sales, essentially a new 'mail order catalog'.

Another ignored "teachable moment" from Chicago.

Can't archive:

Edit: Honestly, I thought they shuttered a few years ago with Radio Shack, which would be a no-brainer for on-line sales.

Radio Shack, another failed opportunity. They could have easily transitioned into a Micro Center or Fry's and sold computer components. Instead they turned it into a phone store, and once the phone companies decided to open their own stores, that was the final nail.
