Sadly this is true(market not supporting). Kinda funny, people buy from Amazon and other online places, but complain about working conditions. At least in brick and mortars, employees got breaks and (some)benefits. The local Sears closed around february, and last k-Mart near me closed about 2 months ago. The end of an era.
The Kmart by me is apparently profitable It has so far avoided these closings. It's a little out of my way, but when I do stop there it has decent traffic.
I try to shop at local stores. Even the big evil Walmart, at least they are employing locals. I don't buy much new anymore to be honest, other than grocery, household, and hygiene products. If I am making a personal purchase it's usually backpacking /camping gear or clothing. I don't have a good physical store to go to. REI is 40 minutes away, it's just way easier to order online from Amazon or backcountry.
Retail has definitely changed.
Same here, except for me its dicks, and im too broke to shop there, lol. Plus im pro 2A also. Mainly tho its just the overpricing of gear. And im too impatient to order from Amazon and wait a week, lol
I used to buy tools and some other misc items from them. Their order online and store pick up was very convenient for me. It was a stand alone store.
Unfortunately the market doesn't support large retail like it used to. Our store closed during their last round. Walking through that massive building with it nearly empty was depressing. Similar feelings when I was shopping at the Toys R Us clearance.
