And we do everything we can to influence elections all over the world, too. Nothing new to see here, and never has been. But I do think there may be something to this Russian hackers using social media for other things, too. Like this, demoralizing the troops. Whether this was Russia or not, I'm sure it's a new tactic in the arsenal of world geopolitics.
No doubt. My only worry is this return to cold war rhetoric w/ Russia. It's a weird situation where I'm more concerned w/ Saudi Arabia's influence on our elections. Wonderful "ally" right?
You have a point. In reality though, our real enemy is China, and the rest are just pests. I've always thought we should just withdraw from all this nonsense, sit back and say you guys worry about your own problems ... mess with us and we nuke your ass. We spend way too damn much money pretending and I mean pretending, to be the world's policeman when no one ever elected us to do so.
Not sure I believe any of this. I've been hearing "Russia" far too often. I wonder why they don't point out Russia also bought ads supporting Hillary Clinton on FB. I'm sure they tried to influence our elections but I doubt the degree. Lots of other foreign governments surely worked to influence our election as well but you never hear about them or they're simply ignored by the media.
