I think they're supposed to pretend that the Rebels™, that get armed by the US, are not the same extremists that are the bulk of the problem.
Russian plane shot down with American weapons by Muslim terrorists, backed by Arabs, and sometimes opposed, sometimes helped by Turkey and or Iran.
I can't keep this shit straight anymore. But some day they are going to make action movies about some of the events about to unfold.
