I feel like this type of thing has become so common, that we're desensitized to it.
30 years ago it was unthinkable, now it is unsurprising.

When Columbine happened, and 911, both blew my fucking mind. Now things exploding or mass shootings hardly phase me.
I can choose between Muslims blowing up in the cities, or rednecks shooting up the rural areas, where do I go for safety?

Montana, where no one lives (capital city is ~30K people, I think).

Of course, people there own about 50 acres of land, and if you trespass, they shoot first and ask questions later.

I once lived on a small island that did not even have a town or settlement, other than a few scattered residents.
My neighbors were Old Growth Forest, and Deer Everywhere. I didn't often see any signs of other humans, unless I went looking for them.
There was a bar though. The only commercial outlet on the island was a bar/post office/basic convenience store/marina/pie shop.
Everything else was wilderness.

Maybe it's time I go back.
