depending on who you ask, russia and poland are doing the same thing more or less in ukraine. best to get additional protection from someone russia won't fuck with so work making ukraine an ally can continue.

I don't think it's the same. Ukraine is Russias doorstep, so Russia must be concerned. Things didn't get heated there until after a US backed coup toppled the democratically elected government.
A better comparison would be Russia putting missiles on the US doorstep. Somewhere like Cuba.

I don't think Poland has really thought this through.
If they want to avoid aggression with the Russians, then kicking them in the balls is probably not the best way to proceed.
Also, don't they know what happens when US puts troops on the ground? They never ever leave, or return any ground they gain.
The US is the wildcard. It's good to have them on your side, but don't tie yourself in.
