Install Gentoo

Sure, I'll tell my 70 year old mother to get right on that and learn bash, driver installation, getting the latest updates, and a whole new set of software applications.

Telling someone to switch to a completely different environment is not a solution and people need to stop pretending that it is.

But seriously, for a 70-year old grandma, all computers are going to be equally mysterious, and she won't be able to really manage any of them. She probably is better off with a basic Linux machine with a browser, adblocker, and email client setup. At least the machine won't get loaded down with malware.

I have a 70-year old who has no problems using W10 so generising all old people as dimwits tells me your not up to date.

Telling someone to switch

That directly says that they have a working knowledge of how to use a system already.

That wasn't a difficult thing to understand. At all.
