And now they know why all previous versions of windows did service packs and new OS versions instead of a single, permanent OS with a rolling update model. They're costing themselves more money with constant update packs instead of hotfixes, 2 or 3 services packs, and and end of life cycle.

Give it two or three more years. They'll switch back and release a new OS version. It will, of course, be a steaming pile of crap because they want to force a single OS for all devices because they haven't learned their lesson yet.
