I suspect Putt was either irked by this or didn't see the value of a backup site. I wouldn't be surprised either way

Preview has been down since the last big outage. That preview site always makes me feel bad for certain voaters. If you were ever on it you’d notice a handful of very loyal voaters helping putt. He has just let all that go, continues to leave those loyal voaters in the dark and has lost many of them to other sites.
