You gave an excellent response on Voat, Skyrock. Very thoughtful, but alas, you can't argue logic with conspiracy theory folks. They possess the secret knowledge that so few ever grasp and rarely shake free of that feeling of superiority they get as keepers of the 'truth' as seen through their eyes. Yes, we do live in a world where everything should be questioned, of course ... and that old saying is true, it's the victors who write the history books. But there's also some truth to the saying that with age comes wisdom. Sooner or later those who really seek the 'truth' will come to the conclusions the OP of that thread made. That history isn't black and white and there are many shades of gray. Those who don't will never get there anyway, so there's little point in arguing with them (my opinion, after a probe to see if it's worth my while to bother).
An interesting post on the lunar landing conspiracy was posted the other days by u/xyzzy. It's short, but sweet and doesn't cover all the ins and outs of conspiracies ... but still a good related read. Link
