I've never understood why it was even supposed to matter.
Nobody seems to deny that it happened, they just want to argue the numbers.

Why does that matter? 600,000 or 6,000,000, it's still maximum evil. It's not like Hitler suddenly becomes an ok guy if it was only thousands and not millions.
Jeffrey Dahmer killed less then 20 people, does that mean he's a good guy?

Kill one man, and you are a murderer. Kill a dozen men, and you are lunatic. Kill a million men, and you are a conqueror.

A common theme is the dictator Olympics.

"Stalin or Pol Pot killed just as many so why aren't we talking about them?"

I don't quite understand why it's so common, as my logic follows yours closely. They're still massive assholes at the end of the day.

Voat is compromised by various groups pushing agendas.

All I know for sure about the holocaust is that I wasn't there and have no way of knowing one way or another if it happened and if it did, to what extent. So I'm not going to to be getting into heated debates about shit I'm not sure of.

Humility and knowing your own limitations, a foreign concept in 2018.

You gave an excellent response on Voat, Skyrock. Very thoughtful, but alas, you can't argue logic with conspiracy theory folks. They possess the secret knowledge that so few ever grasp and rarely shake free of that feeling of superiority they get as keepers of the 'truth' as seen through their eyes. Yes, we do live in a world where everything should be questioned, of course ... and that old saying is true, it's the victors who write the history books. But there's also some truth to the saying that with age comes wisdom. Sooner or later those who really seek the 'truth' will come to the conclusions the OP of that thread made. That history isn't black and white and there are many shades of gray. Those who don't will never get there anyway, so there's little point in arguing with them (my opinion, after a probe to see if it's worth my while to bother).

An interesting post on the lunar landing conspiracy was posted the other days by u/xyzzy. It's short, but sweet and doesn't cover all the ins and outs of conspiracies ... but still a good related read. Link

I'm not a denier, but I have questions. When 22 different countries make it illegal to question a specific part of history, red flags go off and sirens start blaring. There are still 2 US states that do not officially recognize that the Armenian genocide happened. Why are the crimes of the Germans so much more important to protect than the crimes of the Ottomans?
