So, I went and poked them to see the response.
I haven't been there in a while, so wasn't sure what, if any, reaction I would get.

Turned out pretty reasonable (so far).
I triggered a couple, but got lols and reasonable comments from most.

Yeah, he lived in a city under fire, went through hell as a young civilian in a Muslim family.
They got out, went to Europe as refugees, and did well.
He's a modern success story.

That much I know. I suspect that he was mostly in it for the code at the start, and just didn't want to deal with Admin shit so let it coast on its own. He was thick-skinned and understanding, but it probably wore him down over time. He seemed to get more and more stressed, then some erratic behaviour, then poof, gone.
I assumed he did this..
This paragraph is all speculation, though.

I'm also wondering if Putt has ghosted the site.
Time will tell. I hope they find some stability.

Intredasting. I did know he had some trouble as a kid but didn't know the story.

He seemed mildly irritated by some happenings on the site even as early as a couple of months after the first big Reddit influx. I recall an incident in which he proclaimed "as usual, I am Hitler" after coming home from work/uni and having to deal with some trouble over people complaining about a mod. I think he was in it for the code too.
