I personally have no interest in using weed, but the prohibition of marijuana has got to be one of the best examples of how a policy, however good its intentions, having disastrous and terrible effects that far outweigh any positives you might get. The policy of prohibition of marijuana should be ended, immediately, and you can massively improve the current situation we have - in cultural, societal, and economic ways; but all those are secondary and pale in comparison to the constant loss of life and freedom, both from police action that results in deaths, as seen here, gang wars where innocent (and not innocent) people are killed, and lawful (but unjust!) incarceration within the system.
