I played this game last night, per the key I was sent. Here are some notes:

  • I attempted to play on Ubuntu MATE 18.04 unsuccessfully. Nothing came up, no window or error--it silently failed. I couldn't identify log files for this anywhere, so I can't give any further feedback on that at this time. My hardware is: i5-8600k, GTX 1080, 32gb DDR4
  • Worked fine in Windows.
  • Settings don't seem to work, empty button?
  • There's no hints as to how to play, though I did eventually figure it out.
  • There doesn't seem to be a way to gracefully close the game outside of alt-tabbing and manually killing the process
  • Obviously, being Alpha to Pre-Alpha, it lacks some polish like animations and visual feedback.
  • I wasn't able to figure out mining, but my iron didn't seem to be depleting either.
  • Despite telling the woodcutters to auto-chop, I had to keep restarting them.
  • Eventually, after 15-20 minutes or so, the game stopped responding.
  • I couldn't find a way to re-center on my settlement once I looked around and almost got my camera lost for good. The minimap wasn't particularly useful.

The core of the game appears to work well enough. I like where it's going, I like the 3D hex grid concept. Assets will certainly need some polish over time, and perhaps buildings should take up multiple spaces so that they look less awkward next to the characters.

This game reminds me of Age of Empires: Castle Siege, but a bit more interactive and final.

Hey! Glad to see you checked it out. Yeah it's actually only been in development for a month! We started during the last Ludum Dare, and decided to develop it full time. The Linux build actually isn't published correctly. Todays 5PM update should include a working Linux build. Also for the woodcutter thing, that's an intended function, when the UI gets an update the Auto Woodcut button will have a description explaining it in detail.

I'll probably address a lot of the things you've mentioned in a post in the next week or so. I really appreciate the feedback!

Cool. Let me know if you need me to test something, I can do either Linux, Windows, Mac--even iOS or Android if needed. I've got access to just about everything.
