First snow event, of any note, is Thursday. I've had spitting snow and really light dustings that stayed on the morning frost for a few hours. That doesn't count. I didn't even put my winter tires on and my plow isn't hooked up - nor have I put the sander in the bed.

It's not even enough to make driving more interesting. It'll be here. It'll be here soon!

I've never ever had any real trick-or-treaters come to my house. Ever. (This doesn't stop the missus from buying candy.)

Soon, there shall be snow. I shall enslave the eldest hoodlum and she shall take photos of my adventures. I'm gonna smash some snow!

I also can't really put the plow on and sander in the bed until EH has something better to drive. She can't drive a manual very well and I'm sure as shit not riding with her with 3 tons of sand in the back and an 8.5' plow on the front. No. No, I want nothing to do with that.

Sounds like you have plenty of candy at the house at the end of October. We do too ... must be a women thing. Even though we do get kids coming around, my wife ensures we have far more than we can ever eat.

Do you have any fossils in that crick of yours? Just curious ... there was one I knew very similar that had tons of fossils in it, worn away from the solid rock by water action, I suppose. Anyway, they were nothing special, just fossilized ferns or something similar. Now of course that is meaningless in regards to a similar looking crick, but just thought I'd ask.

No. No fossils, no dinosaur bones, no yeti, no angry bears, but some archeology.

I can tell you 'bout it, but you might not be interested? Just say the word and I'll type for ya! I'm absolutely not doing anything better.

That's okay ... you can tell the story sometime, but it's almost nap time for me, so I would lose interest at the moment before I could grasp the historical implications. My guess is though that you likely have an old Norse settlement nearby. I think I saw runes in one of the pictures of rocks you sent. I'm no expert, but that rune did look much like the moniker of Olaf the Scrawny. I'll bet there's quite a tale to be found there if you could hunt down the full runic rock detailing his saga.
