One night at a Kennedy family gathering, Joseph Kennedy got to talking about family finances. “I don’t know what is going to happen to this family when I die…” he said. “No one appears to have the slightest concern for how much they spend. I don’t know what is going to happen to you after I am gone.”
Then he turned to one of JFK’s sisters and reprimanded her so severely that she left the room in tears. When she returned, JFK looked up and said, “Well, kid, don’t worry. We’ve come to the conclusion that the only solution is to have Dad work harder.”
Even Mr. Kennedy laughed at that.
