It makes sense, but it's something I've never thought about. In order to heal, my body is burning through tons of calories.

So, I've been eating the same amount I normally do, and I'm normally pretty active. But, I've been losing weight, even though I'm doing far less physical activity.

I found some sketchy sources, but this one looks pretty legit:

It turns out, I'm burning more calories than I'd normally burn - even though I'm normally pretty active.

That explains why I'm losing weight. I've lost like 12 pounds! Well, that's more like 14 pounds, 'cause I have about 2 pounds of titanium in my hip.

I haven't actually confirmed this with a physician yet, but the web and some not-very-sketchy sites seem to confirm it.

It makes sense. I just never really thought of it before.

So, if you want to lose some weight, just get into a wreck and break some bones!

I'm going to increase my caloric intake to about 3,500 calories a day and see where that gets me.

I've heard of this happening to people with extensive burns, so I'm sure the same goes for other injuries as well. Do they have you taking a good multivitamin? Seems likely that your body is using more than just calories to get you patched up.

But yeah I would definitely start eating more. Losing like 10% of your bodyweight isn't a trend you want to continue for very long.

What I find amazing is how rapidly the weight is going down. It has been less than a month and I'm already about 15 pounds down - more if I count the weight of the metal!

I take both a multivitamin and I take an additional vitamin D supplement. They have me taking Vitamin D3, two tablets. The bottle says they are 5000 UI (125 mcg). For some reason, my vitamin D was really, really low. I think I'm supposed to keep taking that for 90 days, so about another 2 months.

For my multivitamin, they weren't very specific. They just said to take a daily multivitamin and I happened to have One-A-Day Men's Health.

IF you know about the subject, do you have a different multivitamin to recommend? They were only specific with the D3. Initially, they said 1000 UI, but they then told me 10,000 UI. So, I take two of them at night when I take my sleepy pills.

I'm not any sort of expert on vitamins, but I do swear by using them. I'm sure the One-A-Day is plenty good for your situation. Maybe beef up on some magnesium and zinc if you were/are a regular drinker.

I had a nasty D deficiency one winter, and I was taking 6,000 IU daily for a while. Ever since then I've taken 1000 IU daily during the winter, and its done wonders for my mood.

As a side note, if a few hundred bucks isn't a big deal for you, I'd consider looking into a blood panel for vitamin levels. I did one years ago, and the resulting adjustments I made to my diet seriously made me feel years younger.

Oh, they did that and more. LOL They pretty much ran every test on me that they though they could bill insurance for. I ain't even kidding. I had complete workups, tests for everything even remotely normal, etc...

They asked if I wanted full screenings and I said sure! They came and took so much blood that they used up all my good veins and had to do finger pricks. Good times! It's a good thing needles don't bother me.

(That's how they knew I was low on D, and a bunch of other lectures.)

Sorry for my delayed response, but my attention has been dedicated to https:://fngt.gq, which is actually a bigger project than I expected it to be. Go figure?
