I agree, you do have to have thick skin and even males have bad comments made about them. I don't think they get the rape / sexual comments to the same extent.

In all seriousness, when you enter public life like this, anybody can expect to receive threats and insulting comments. It doesn't mean that the people making these comments are right, but it should be expected and cannot be avoided. If you don't have thick skin, then you shouldn't be in the game. No shame in that, it isn't for everyone.
