15 years ago citizenship was chosen by public vote where I lived. 'Raise you're hand if you think they're integrated'.

That’s really interesting. I’d never heard of something like that before.

Integration is somewhat bittersweet to me. When my family immigrated they worked so hard to become citizens, they didn’t allow any language or music from the old country in the house. They went to culture events in the city but didn’t pass any heritage down as they were American now. Lots of things were lost because of that. I’m proud my family took such pride in their new country and integrated as fast as they could, but I wish they didn’t rid themselves of everything.
