I miss playing. The last time our session got together the party split, and we've been split for about a month now and nobody has any idea how to resolve our issue.

The sorcerer decided to join up with a goblin gang and then turn on us. The last moment we played, I had rushed up to him and tried asking him in character what the hell he was thinking. Then we were attacked and the session ended with all of us wondering how we would get out alive.

  1. Members in each half party get a shadow ring or a cursed haste spell. If the battle is magic heavy, spells can synergize and create a wild surge that the DM can control. If both shadow rings or cursed scrolls are activated within the same turn, both affected players are launched into a shadow realm with the starting point of a jail. They can talk and interact but everything is made of shadows. Anything they take back with them continues to be made of shadows.

    1. A haste, slow, etc spell cast at the same time as another could create the same effect if it can carefully be handled by the DM.
  2. One of the gods intervenes directly, throwing the whole party into a plane where each party member MUST contribute to get back to the prime material plane.

  3. Time warp. As per point two, two time based spells cast at the exact same time could synergize. The party is transported into what appears to be an empty counsel hall with chairs and tables which are absolutely enormous. Magic doesn't seem to work right here and has different but predictable results.
