I run a regular 2nd edition campaign. My players are high enough level that they should be looking for a base of operations now. This is perfect for the ranger and spellfilcher in the party. I think I'll place it half a day's journey from the druid's base. All one day from a town I made with complete politics, thieves underground, a lost dungeon with forgotten arcana, and a curious iron skillet everyone in the town wants and keeps stealing from each other. All maybe 3 weeks from Myth Drannor.
I have to admit that my druid player is doing better than I thought for never having played before this campaign. Level 13 for a druid requires a battle with another level 13 druid and it was to the death. She pulled some serious stuff out of nowhere to survive.
When I get some time, I'll post some of my campaign rubric and notes. They say I'm an excellent DM so maybe y'all will enjoy it.
Nice! Just had a group dissolve due to cancer, starting a new group on Saturday - we are going to do 5e for a bit, but new games/versions are on the table for discussion.
It's not super serious, but should be fun.
Have been looking to actually run a campaign using Zweihander, so will need to read all the rules and see.
Definitely post up some of your notes, love to hear the stories and the ways people come up with solutions to the problem.
I keep telling my players we need to play some Call of Cthulhu so they can be traumatized and then after that some Rifts so they can hate character creation.
Have you heard of Arcanum? (https://www.amazon.com/Arcanum-Atlantean-Trilogy-Stephan-Michael/dp/0961077050) The character stats are somewhere between D&D 2nd Edition and the Palladium universe. It should, in theory, be possible to accurately convert between the the Palladium universe and D&D (although I haven't sat down to try it yet) using the Arcanum system as an intermediary step. That means that you could convert from ANY D&D world/system to things like Rifts, TMNT, Robotech, Rifts, etc. and vice versa. From there you should be able to extend that to convert accurately between any system. If done responsibly, that is. No need to have a glitterboy in Myth Drannor, yeah?
That's a pretty cool story - you could go a long ways with that.
If you were trying to make that into a 5e Forgotten realms, you could place that somewhere in the environs of Myth Drannor to make it fit into a larger campaign.
