England Navy Captures Denmark!
The British Grand Fleet, under the command of Vice Admiral David Beatty, have made a daring strike against the German High Seas fleet, making port in Denmark and liberating the Danish people. The fierce battle, which took place over several days, saw several ships on both sides destroyed, along with most of the port facilities in the Danish capital of Copenhagen. Denmark was a neutral power before the Germans forcibly occupied, and they have now been liberated by the brave sailors of the British Grand Fleet. For his efforts, Vice Admiral Beatty was given a special commendation, Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath. Only time will tell if the German fleet, battered, but still powerful, will recover for this vicious battle.
Austria-Hungary capture Venice!
In a powerful assault by the Imperial and Royal land forces of the Austria-Hungary Empire, supported by their navy, elements of their land forces have moved into Venice, capturing the city admist fierce fighting. The violence was fierce, as houses and roads were fought over by hundreds of men on both sides. In the end, however, Venice did fall to the overwhelming forces arrayed before them, and the Italians escaped east into Austrian land. Whether they can survive cut off from their main forces is a question that cannot be answered at this time. We will have further details on this conflict, as they come in.
New Middleweight Champion in Boxing!
In a stunning victory, Al McCoy defeats George Chip with a surprise first round knockout in Brooklyn, New York, to take the World Middleweight Championship. McCoy, who had only knocked out just over 1 in 5 opponents to this point in his career, came out swinging right from the first bell. He is seen here prior to the fight with his managers and staff. In a stunning win, he took former middleweight champion George Chip right off the canvas with a powerful left hand blow to the jaw. At the age of only 19, McCoy has become the youngest person as well as the first left handed-boxer ever to win a Middleweight World championship. It is also the shortest fight on record in which a boxer had taken a World Title from an opponent.
I can tell you England is not particularly interested with warfare with Germany, so why don't I send Minister Chamberlain over to your place and we can figure out something for peace in our time?
Just a fair warning to all statesmen, If the Brit is telling you about sending Chamberlain to talk about peace. He will be bringing friends, and his talks will not be about peace
