I'm reminded of an anime I've watched called Banner of the Stars II, and the main characters are serving as temporary planetary governors for a recently conquered system. Long story short, the planet was a big prison, and without any real support, the guards are no longer able to keep an all-out riot (which basically becomes a war) from breaking out. The protagonists, who were earlier lamenting about how boring the job is, now had to deal with all this nonsense, which caused the gunnery officer to say "This is becoming too interesting."

That's kind of how I feel right now. This is too interesting. :p

Diplomacy is a strategic board game created by Allan B. Calhamer in 1954 and released commercially in 1959. It's main features from other board games are it's negotiation phases, where players talk to each other, forming alliances and other deals, and the complete lack of luck in the resolution of combat in the game. It has a wide player-base both online and in e-mail and even postal games.
